Maps v Cedar Road
On a balmy October evening the Year 4 soccer squad turn out for their first ever match against Cedar Road. When we arrived we were greeted by a very small pitch which meant we had to adjust our game plan considerably. Getting used to the size of the pitch and playing together for the first time meant that we got off to a slow start and we lost the first short game 7-1. We picked up in the second match and won that 3-2 with some impressive solo goals by Daniel. Sadly, we slumped a bit in the third game and ran out narrow losers. The finale was a hockey style penalty shootout which saw some impressive finishing by our players and some equally strong saves from Haolin. We won this aspect of the game and the boys left jubilant.
We do need to work on our team work and passing of the ball, and utilising space better. But the great sides of the past were not built in a day – so we will work hard on those aspects and ensuring that win or lose we do it with respect, manners and integrity.
Player of the Match: Haolin for his outstanding saves in goal.
